Having just been in Australia and used dirt cheap phone calling cards,
calling my girlfriend in Norway (1.8 cents/minute with OzCall and a couple of others) I was expecting something similar here in New Zealand, but not so! At least not what I've been told. Another traveller told me that a NZ$ 10 calling card will give approx 45 minutes to European countries, so is this correct, or are there in fact calling cards with similar prices as in Australia? I still have a couple of dollars left with my Australian OZcall card, but I suppose it can't be used here... Hallvard |

I think we are probably behind Oz here - you can get cheap calls to many parts of Asia, but Norway comes in at 12 cents on Kia Ora, 15 cents a minute on the Telstra Talk Plus, so long as you can use a local access number. There is also nobel.com, which is web-based, but I can't actually work out whether the price is in local currency or not. If it is, then they'll give you a rate of 7 cents a minute. Chi-tel is another option - you'll see them sold though Asian run internet cafes and Asian food places: not sure what the cost to Norway is. |
