Does anyone know offhand where you can fly to/from the airport in
Liberia, Gunacaste -- or what airlines serve it? I believe there is
service to/from somewhere in CA and probably San Jose but I'm curious
about other places in Central America.

Flys into Liberia, the only non-stop service from the U.S.
They started service last May (?) and went on till Aug. (?)
They were testing the market. According to SunTrips the test was
successful, so eventually they may go year-round.

I sure hope Sun Trips gets going again. One of the reasons I stopped
going to CR is because of dealing with San Jose.
I'd enjoy a trip to Nosara again.
