I recommend taking the bus (R1.30 a ride). All popular tourist spots
in Rio are accessible by either the bus or the metro although the
metro doesn't run on Sundays. You can get a detailed bus, metro and
train route book in Rio for about $6 or $7. It's in Portugese. We
got by with it the week we were in Rio last year. None of us
understand Portugese.
